SCoFL 2 21-22 April 2007, Poznań (Poland)
TRAVEL TO POZNAŃ
By plane
Poznań's Ławica Airport offers
frequent daily connections with Warsaw (LOT Polish Airlines), as
well as with Vienna (LOT and Austrian Airlines),
Copenhagen (SAS), Frankfurt/Main and
Munich (LOT and Lufthansa), Cologne/Bonn (European
Air Express), and Hannover, Dortmund and Zurich (Dauair).
The low-cost carriers Wizzair
and Ryanair provide connections
with London Luton and Stansted, respectively.
The Poznań airpot timetable is available here. However, please verify
with the respective airlines whether the flights are available.
Travellers from the USA are encouraged to take a
flight to Warsaw (Frederic Chopin Airport) and
then transfer to a flight to Poznań. The flight from Warsaw to Poznań
is inexpensive (ca. 300 zł = 75€) and it takes 45 min. Alternatively,
you may travel from Warsaw to Poznań by train (see below).
By train
You can travel to Poznań by train from Warsaw
(320 km), or from Berlin (280 km). There are frequent rail connections
between those two cities and Poznań. In either case, the travel is
going to take 3 hours.
Check your connections using the timetables
of the Polish Railways (PKP), or
the
German Railways.
Getting around in Poznań
Once you are in Poznań, it is good to take a
taxi from the airport or from the railway station. Taxis are
inexpensive in Poland, thus you will probably pay less than 20 zł (=
5€) for the drive from the airport to the city center, where the
recommended hotels are located. The drive from the railway station is
going to be even cheaper provided that you take a radio-taxi.
If you stay in the city center, you do not need
to use the public transport to get to Collegium Novum, our Conference
venue. All the hotels that we rocommend are located within a walking
distance to Collegium Novum and the Old Market, the old town with many
restaurants and pubs. If you stay in a hostel, you will probably need
to use the public transport (buses, street-cars or taxis) to get to the
city center. You can buy time tickets for buses and street-cars in
every newspaper shop.
On the first day of the conference, you will be
given a map of the city center.
